Arnab Goswami, born on 9 October 1973 at Guwahati in Assam. Arnab’s paternal grandfather Mr. Rajani Kanta Goswami was a lawyer by profession and Congress leader as well. He took part in Independence activism too. His father Colonel Manoranjan Goswami was BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate in 1998 elections from Guwahati but defeated by Bhubaneshwar Kalita. His mother’s name is Suprabha.
He completed his matric examinations from Mount St. Mary’s School, Delhi and intermediate from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jabalpur Cantonment. He completed his graduation in Sociology from Hindu College of Delhi University. After that he attended St. Anthony’s College of Oxford University in 1994 for completion of his Master’s Degree in Social Anthropology. He was also a visiting in Sydney Sussex College of Cambridge University at International Studies Department in year 200.
Arnab Goswami started his career with NDTV 24X7 English news broadcasting channel. He was a daily newscast anchor in that channel even used to conduct a show called News Tonight. He hosted the show Newshour on the same channel. After NDTV he moved towards Times Now channel and started serving as Editor-in-Chief in the year 2006. Since then, he is working continuously with this channel of Times Group and conducting Newshour (a debate show) at 9 p.m daily. Frankly Speaking with Arnab Goswami is another popular discussion and interview show which is being conducted by him.
Mr. Goswami has achieved various awards in the field of journalism and writing. As a child writer, he got Asam Sahitya Sabha award. In 2003 he got Asian Television Award for Best Presenter or Anchor as a runner up, 2007 he got Society Young Achievers Award for excellence in the field of Media. Later in 2008, he was awarded Indian News Broadcasting Awards (INBA Award) for Innovative Editor-in-Chief. In 2010 he achieved two awards, Assamese of the Year Award by News Live and Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism (TV) by the Indian Express Group. 2012 was the year when he got ENBA Awards for News Television Editor-in-Chief of the Year. On 1 November 2016, Goswami resigned as Editor-in-Chief of Times Now on November 1, 2016 and launched his news channel on 6 May 2017 and named it “Republic TV”.
